    Trivia[edit]

    • Kelpie only inhabit lakes due to them preferring calm waters over flowing currents. (source: Personal communication with Kenkou Cross).
    • The crown of water worn by the profile kelpie is not a characteristic of the species but rather this individual. She creates and wears it because she is regarded as lord of the lake by the humans of the area. (source: Personal communication with Kenkou Cross).
    • Kelpie hair is transparent due to water elements within it, but is not itself made out of water. Such water elements run through their whole body and thus their bodies look moist and shiny even when not wet. (source: Personal communication with Kenkou Cross).
    • For some reason, many kelpies enjoy singing, and can present themselves rather like divas. Due to this and the graceful way they run through water, they are sometimes used as motif in stage performances and they themselves may be quite good at such dancing and performing as well. (source: Personal communication with Kenkou Cross).
    • Humans continue to fall for the ruse of kelpies for a few reasons. The first is that the number of people who know the information from the monster girl encyclopedia is still limited, since it and books like it are prohibited by the Order. Even those who know a bit about them though still can't resist them, that's part of the charm of monster girls. With the kelpie in particular, humans find it difficult to connect in their minds the idea of a "a terrifying monster that drags you into the water" with the beautiful, ephemeral girl they see before them. Also, since local people often revere kelpies as lake spirits or guardians, such people won't warn men targeted by kelpies either. The husbands also don't warn people, and indeed often can't shake the image of a "pure girl" they have in their heads regarding her even after being one-sidedly ravished by their kelpie wife. There are no photographs or videos for people to observe, and people who know of kelpies usually have only read about them or seen artistic renditions. (source: Personal communication with Kenkou Cross).
    • Husbands of kelpies gradually become water breathing incubi, either through a ritual like what the sea bishop does, or simply from gradual exposure to her mana. That said, kelpies and their husbands typically choose to live on the lake shore or somewhere nearby rather than in the lake itself. (source: Personal communication with Kenkou Cross).
    • In dark mamono realms there are ordinary blue kelpie in white clothing, but there may also be kelpie in black costumes (reflective of dark undine) or with bodies that are as pink as the color of the water. (source: Personal communication with Kenkou Cross).
    • Kelpie is listed as a mermaid at Kurobinega's sorting pages[1].
